Using scientific data, we promote the sustainable fishing in our vessels and we select the species that are caught in sustainable fisheries and that can be used to develop our business activities. We respect the fish sizes and maturity, the life-cycle in order to guarantee the natural renewal of the fisheries. To assure our commitment to our customers and business partners we are independently certified by international organizations like the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) and others to guarantee that we are using the best practices in industry to protect and prove that Algarfresco is doing a sustainable activity.

All the products that we commercialize are controlled and audited by independent entities to assure that they are accounted for the calculation of the international fishing quotas and to guarantee that Algarfresco is using the best processing in the industry regarding fish processing and storage. Currently our quality management systems is certified by the ISO 9001:2008 and we have implemented the HACCP - Hazard analysis and critical control points to create a systematic preventive approach to food safety from biological, chemical, and physical hazards in production processes that can cause the finished product to be unsafe, and designs measurements to reduce these risks to a safe level. All the systems implemented by Algarfresco have the final goal of providing outstanding quality products to our customers and are based in or philosophy of prevention and traceability.
